Community Literacy Center
What is the Community Literacy Center?
Currently in development, the University of New Hampshire’s new Community Literacy Center (CLC) is a resource for p-12 learners, parents, and teachers that aims to support the literacy learning of area children through collaboration with schools, families, and community organizations.
The CLC will provide free or subsidized intervention services to students as well as professional development for practicing and pre-service teachers. We envision the Center as a vibrant alliance of educators and learners working together toward the goal of improved literacy.
Programs in Development
Over the 2017-2018 academic year, the CLC plans to provide the following programs:
- Free or subsidized tutoring
- Supervised tutoring with feedback for teachers
- Summer institutes
- Advanced coursework at UNH
- Training in reading and writing interventions
- Online literacy resources and connections for educators
