Learning Through Teaching:About the Faculty
Lisa C. Miller is associate professor of English at the University of New Hampshire and director of the New Hampshire Literacy Institutes. She is author of Make Me A Story: Teaching Writing Through Digital Storytelling, Power Journalism: Computer-Assisted Reporting, and co-editor, with Tom Newkirk, of The Essential Don Murray: Lessons From America's Greatest Writing Teacher. In 2005, she received the College of Liberal Arts Teaching Excellence Award. Lisa has worked extensively with teachers and schools to bring digital storytelling in the language arts curriculum.
Tomasen M. Carey, senior lecturer for the UNH English Department, is also part of the summer faculty for the New Hampshire Literacy Institutes.
The Learning Through Teaching faculty are selected for their range of expertise in literacy and their years of classroom experience. They are published authors and graduates of the summer New Hampshire Literacy Institutes.
