Our two pairs of presenters, speaking about academic-community partnerships, will be:
- Diane
O’Donoghue, Director of
the Program for Public Humanities and Senior Fellow for the Humanities at
the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University, and Jessica
Wong Camhi, Director of
the Chinese Historical Society of New England (a Boston-based non-profit
dedicated to documenting, preserving, and promoting the history and legacy
of Chinese immigration to the New England area), talking about These Words, a project
they co-directed to showcase the rich history of printing, reading, and
writing in Boston’s Chinatown through a bilingual, open-air exhibition and
a series of public events.
- JerriAnne Boggis, a writer, educator, and community activist who serves as the Executive Director of the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire, and David Watters, State Senator and Professor Emeritus of English at UNH, whose research has focused on the literature, history, and material culture of New England (most notably as co-editor of The Encyclopedia of New England), discussing their collaborative efforts to establish what is now the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire.
