Funded by the Mellon Foundation and co-sponsored by the New England Humanities Consortium, the second week-long Summer Institute in Public Humanities will take place June 1-5, 2020 at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel in Portsmouth, NH.
Nominees should either already be engaged in public humanities work or have an idea for public humanities project that they will initiate after the institute, with some evidence of an ability to engage with the public and create sustained partnerships. At the faculty level, we focus on tenure-track academics, who are in a position to engage their home institutions in conversations about public engagement in the humanities.
Please note: Faculty and graduate student applicants must be from participating institutions and must be nominated by the directors of their humanities centers or other liaisons as designated by agreement with the UNH Center for the Humanities. We will invite nominated faculty members and grad students to apply by Monday, February 17 via the application portal on this site and will notify the summer 2020 cohort of their acceptance to the institute in mid-March. Undergraduate collaborators may be invited by participating faculty to submit statements of interest via the undergrad portal below and will be prioritized for spots.
