Sonia Woytonik at the Graduate Research Conference

Welcome to the History Department at the University of New Hampshire. We offer comprehensive programs for graduate students and a faculty who have won numerous prizes for teaching and scholarship. Our courses cover a wide range of times, places, and subjects, with a particular strength in cultural history, women's history, the history of religion, Atlantic history, and African American history. In addition, M.A. students can focus on Museum Studies.

The Department of History offers the master of arts and doctor of philosophy degrees. The master of arts is offered in many fields. Doctoral dissertations may be written on the history of the United States or on topics comparing the United States with other societies or areas. Applications for our graduate programs can be obtained from The Graduate School, Room 109, Thompson Hall, 105 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824-3547.
