The Murkland Interdisciplinary Scholarship Team (MIST) program encourages faculty to identify overlapping research strengths and develop integrated approaches to address critical societal challenges through external funding and scholarship. MIST teams include at least one COLA faculty. A total of ten teams will be selected in the next two years and will be given resources to support the creation of competitive grant applications including internal and external coaches, budgeting support from SPA, after submission funds, as well as logistical support. In order to foster the development of new teams, on April 14, 2017, the College of Liberal Arts and the Office of the Senior Vice Provost for Engagement and Academic Outreach hosted a networking event for faculty interested in becoming part of a MIST team. This event included three mini-networking sessions to foster connections and shepherd faculty to find complimentary research agendas.
