|Jessica Carson earned her B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. at UNH. Her research interests include health and illness, substance use, child poverty, families, rural studies, social safety net, and gender. She serves as a Vulnerable Families Research Scientist at the Carsey School of Public Policy at UNH where she conducts analyses on the policy-relevant issues affecting vulnerable families and children, especially in rural places. She supervises undergraduate work-study students and represents the Carsey School both on- and off-campus.|
Nicholas Adams earned his B.A. and M.A. at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Nick is a PhD student at UNH. He works at the Carsey School of Public Policy as a research assistant with the Vulnerable Families research team. His fields of research include child welfare, child maltreatment, prenatal abuse, international child welfare (in particular prevalence of physical and sexual abuse, and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child), and violence against women (in particular Female Genital Mutilation).
Yahayra Michel-Smith earned a B.A., B.S., and M.A. at the University of Massachusetts as well as two graduate certificates, one in Forensic Criminology and one in Domestic Violence Prevention. She has completed her Ph.D. at UNH and is a Research Assistant with research and teaching interests in family violence prevention, juvenile delinquency, criminology, crime and conflict, victimology and research methods.
