"I am exploring the use of literary code-switching and Spanglish in memoirs by Chicana female authors. In addition to analyzing language alternation from sociolinguistic and literary lenses, I am also exploring themes of language suppression in education, publishing, and politics. I am interested in the choices authors make about when to use Spanish, and how these choices impact how audiences interact with the texts. This research is the basis for my honor’s thesis."
