Jackie Harris is exploring the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion. She plans to utilize this interdisciplinary perspective in her research to relate to her dual major degree in Women's and Gender Studies and Earth Science. She explores a variety of articles, videos, and documentaries related to the lifecycle of garments, including the production, selling, re-selling, recycling, and disposal processes. Jackie examines how consumer culture, global capitalism, and the hierarchy of labor in manufacturing industries result in many hidden costs that harm the environment and society. She also investigates the variety of sustainable and ethical fashion options and the different perspectives on how fast fashion can be combated
