Overview

Undergraduate student Jenna Hubbard, a member of the class of 2023 is a Women’s and Gender Studies and Business Administration concentration in Marketing Dual Major with a drive to blend the knowledge within her two majors. The January Research opportunity that UNH GRISIL lab presented, gave a creative yet concentrated pathway for a first-time undergraduate independent researcher. Jenna decided to incorporate personal, academic, and professional passions into her topic of choice, researching identified LGBTQ+ People of Color in the workplace. Her research entails a historical, current, and future exploration of treatments, ideologies, and outcomes of both the queer community and racial communities. In her efforts to draw attention to systemic racial and heterosexism issues, focusing on places of employment in a capitalistic society highlights the detrimental effects of harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Most of these effects also stem from religious beliefs, personal morals, and lack of governmental and political concerns. Jenna is thrilled to have had this opportunity to research what she is passionate about changing in the future.
