Overview

The project examines the quality of education for U.S. high school students across different socioeconomic and racial/ethnic groups focusing on student-teacher relationships, given that relationships with teachers play a critical role in student learning and development (Hwang et al., 2021; Hwang & Kisida, 2022).

They will be researching

  • How do high school students’ perceptions about math teachers differ by socioeconomic status (SES) and race/ethnicity?

  • What is the impact of the student perceptions about their teachers on math achievement in U.S. high school?

  • Do the effects of student-teacher relationships on achievement vary by SES and race?
