In this talk, delivered in September 2022, Paul Robertson, UNH senior lecturer in humanities, presents data and discussion from a collaboration with a cognitive psychologist who uses EEG to measure brain waves. This project explores how people think about a monotheistic God versus polytheistic gods in neurologically different ways. These findings are compared to theories in evolutionary psychology and the cognitive science of religion that explore the origins of religious belief in the human species.
