Hosting Young Philosophy Enthusiasts (HYPE)

The Philosophy Department is a major sponsor of HYPE, the annual high school philosophy conference that brings over 1100 students to UNH for a full day of philosophy, organized by Souhegan High School’s Ethics Forum.

NEH Summer Seminar for College Teachers

The Department of Philosophy is hosting philosophy scholars for a four-week seminar, Philosophical Responses to Empiricism in Kant, Hegel, and Sellars. The participants aim to better understand how human knowledge operates and how our minds work in relation to the world. The seminar is funded through a prestigious grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).

Northern New England Philosophical Association (NNEPA)

The Department of Philosophy oversees NNEPA, a 50-year-old regional organization that promotes the study of philosophy and the exchange of philosophical ideas. The organization holds a conference annually.

Philosophy Undergraduate Research Conference (URC)

The Department of Philosophy hosts an annual URC for its majors. The Philosophy URC is a mosaic of concise and meaningful student presentations, including philosophical topics such as applied ethics, language theory, and social justice. Standard presentations last fifteen minutes and are followed by a brief question-and-answer period. All are welcome and sincerely encouraged to attend. Presentation schedules can be found in the UNH master calendar for the 2019, 2020, and 2021 events.
