If you have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better, you are entitled to enroll in the Departmental Honors program in Political Science. Successful completion of these requirements will be recorded on your permanent transcript. In order to complete this program, you must fulfill the following requirements:
- Students are required to maintain an overall 3.5 grade-point average and a 3.5 grade point average in major coursework.
- Students must successfully complete four 500-level - 700-level honors courses in political science. As a minimum, the honors component will include additional research and writing assignments to be determined by consultation with the instructor.
- Students must successfully complete POLT 799 Honors Thesis (4 credits), consisting of independent library or field research and a written thesis under the supervision of a faculty member. This will constitute an eleventh course in the major. See Honors Thesis Student/Sponsor Agreement for more information.
