STUDY AWAY
LLC study abroad statement March 2021
In light of the COVID-19 global pandemic—and the University’s prohibition on study abroad for Summer and Fall 2021—the Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures will accept the following to satisfy the major requirement of study abroad for AY 2020-2021 (and will reevaluate this policy for the next academic year):
1. Traditional study abroad (by petition only; this includes Study Away (National Student Exchange)
2. Virtual study abroad (many independent providers exist)
3. Virtual exchange programs (through volunteering, internship, projects (some National Student Exchange opportunites, United Planet, etc.))
On a case-by-case basis the French, German, Russian, and Spanish programs will also consider requests for a waiver of the study abroad requirement.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Department manages several study abroad opportunities in the following locations: Chengdu, China; Costa Rica; Dijon, France; Berlin, Germany; Russia; Granada, Spain; and Havana, Cuba. These and a wide range of other managed study abroad programs are administered by the COLA Center for Study Abroad. These programs provide opportunities for UNH students from all colleges to engage with diverse cultures and to prepare themselves for a globally interconnected workplace while making progress towards degree requirements.
