Overview
Districts and other central office structures (like School Administrative Units or Cooperatives) can lead schools toward systematic and comprehensive improvement to gain the intended benefits of effective practices. Enhancing the district’s capacity to lead improvement efforts may include: developing strategic focus and coherence of initiatives, promoting competence of personnel, strengthening data and communication infrastructure to support decision making, and leveraging both technical and adaptive leadership strategies. When school district teams enhance their own capacity to lead, they give schools the platform to implement a systematic process of improvement – elevating learning and aligning resources with intended outcomes.
