Students must maintain an overall 3.50 grade-point average and a 3.50 in major coursework
Students must successfully complete at least 16 credits in approved 500-level or greater courses in music designated for honors as follows:
12 credits: Any four of the following: MUSI 501, 502, 515, 571, 572, 703-715, 771-785
PLUS
4 credits: A senior project/honors thesis as follows:
Performance Majors
In addition to the degree-required full recital, a thesis or project supervised by UNH faculty and undertaken through MUSI 795; this might include a set of program notes or background research related to the recital repertory or a research project related to a topic to be determined between the student and the advisor.
Non-Performance Majors (Composition, Liberal Studies)
EITHER
A project undertaken through MUSI 777 (3 credits), designated honors or MUSI 795 designated honors (2 credits)
AND
A senior half-recital completed under MUSI 795 (1-2 credits)
OR
Full public presentation of their research such as a lecture or lecture recital for 4 credits undertaken through MUSI 795

Coursework in Education/Music Education (6 or 7 credits):
- One from EDUC 700, EDUC 701, EDUC 705, or EDUC 751 (4 credits)
- One from MUED 741, MUED 755, MUED 765, MUED 790 or MUED 791 (2 or 3 credits)
Thesis (4 credits) consisting of two parts taken for 2 credits each:
- A senior project under MUED 795: Special Studies in Music Education (2 credits) or MUSI 795 and
- A senior half-recital under MUSI 795 (2 credits) with program notes researched and written by the student in consultation with a supervising FTE faculty and their primary applied instructor.
Coursework in Music designated as Honors (Any of the following for a minimum of 6 credits):
- MUSI 501, 502, 515, 571, 572, (3 credits)
- MUSI 703–715, 771–785 (3 credits)
