New Hampshire Youth Band

Clarinet, trumpet, conducting baton, and percussion mallets

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are disappointed to report that the fall session of the New Hampshire Youth Band program has been canceled to ensure the health and safety of all.  Please check here for updated information about plans for the spring semester. We hope you to see you when the band is up and running again.

The New Hampshire Youth Band provides an enrichment experience to dedicated players of concert band instruments in middle school and high school, grades 6-12.   Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Paul Creative Arts Center at the University of New Hampshire.

Band members benefit from the resources and opportunities available on a college campus including excellent equipment, a beautiful concert hall, and assistance from college music students who work patiently with each student to help them perform sophisticated, age-appropriate music at a high level. Students who have enjoyed the SYMS (Summer Youth Music School) programs at UNH seem to really enjoy and benefit from the New Hampshire Youth Band experience.

The band meets for two ten-week sessions each year. Ten rehearsals in the fall precede a fall concert. The winter session rehearsals begin at the end of January with a final concert in April. Tuition is $100 per semester. Concert admission is free of charge. Interested families should call the UNH Department of Music at (603)862-2404. Please provide the following information: name, email, instrument, grade, and name of school.
