What is theatre?
Pursue your passion for the performing arts with the theatre minor. Learn about the history and literature of theatre, as well as performing arts skills, design and theatre technology. Tailor the minor to your interests with courses in acting, dance, voice, playwriting, directing, arts administration, stagecraft, puppetry, youth theatre and musical theatre. You’ll have the opportunity to participate in full-scale theatrical productions offered by our department. Combine the theatre minor with any degree, or with a major such as a theatre or dance option, literature, art, music or business to enhance your career opportunities or future studies.
Why study theatre at UNH?
In addition to our award-winning faculty, the UNH Department of Theatre and Dance offers more than 25 performance opportunities every year in musicals, plays or dance concerts, including student productions. You’ll enjoy opportunities for independent study,and you’ll be eligible to apply for R.E.A.C.H.—financial assistance provided to students who participate in internships with professional theatre or dance organizations. Our Cultural Stages program brings acclaimed playwrights, choreographers and other theatre artists from around the world to UNH. Our January Term study-abroad program offers a 10-day experience of London theatre with insights into politics and society.

Curriculum & Requirements
The theatre minor provides the broadest overview of the discipline, allowing students to create their course of study by exploring theory and technique classes from acting, design and theatre technology, and history. Students who major in theatre or one if its theatre or dance options may minor in theatre provided no more than 8 credits are used to satisfy both major and minor requirements.
