Why did you choose UNH?
I chose UNH because I found a very supportive, kind, and welcoming community when I visited for my audition. I met several students and professors that day, all of whom were willing to talk to me about the program and their experiences.
How did you choose your major and why?
I chose music ed because I have always wanted to be a teacher and my love of music as a child continued to grow. I wanted to be someone who could help others experience and fall in love with music.
What is particularly awesome about being in the College of Liberal Arts?
The people! I've met so many people in COLA who are creative, open-minded, and love to be in community with each other.
Describe any experiential learning you've undertaken:
I went abroad to Cardiff University in Wales for a semester. I took classes in music, participated in ensembles, joined some societies and explored Europe. I had the benefit of traveling there after my roommate from the semester before traveled to UNH to study here for a semester. We basically swapped places and it was wonderful to already have some friends over there, before I even arrived!
Are you involved in any groups, clubs or organizations?
I am a part of Kappa Kappa Psi (national honorary band fraternity), National Association for Music Education (NAfME, for short) and the UNH Nordic Club.
How is COLA preparing you for career and professional success?
I have been taking classes and attending workshops/professional development throughout my four years. Each of these experiences has helped me to make connections, gain skills and knowledge and experience life as an undergrad. I have had the opportunity to work closely with my professors, building strong relationships which makes reaching out for advice and guidance after college even easier.
What are your post-graduation plans at this point?
I plan to teach music in a public school in Vermont!
What is the one thing people might be surprised to learn about you?
I love to be on the water; kayak, canoe, paddleboard, sail, anything!
