Getting Around PCAC

Parking & Planning your Visit

WHEN TO ARRIVE: Patrons are encouraged to arrive in Durham at least 30 minutes before the start of a performance.  This will leave sufficient time to secure a parking space, walk from the parking area to the venue (approx 5 min walk) and be seated in the venue in time for the performance to begin.

PARKING (evenings and weekends):  On weekends and evenings after 6 p.m., free public parking is available in the lots marked for faculty, staff, or commuter students. Parking lots closest to PCAC are: Lot B (large lot off Mill Road, between Academic Way and McDaniel Drive) and Lot P (behind Parsons Hall).  For the Aerial Dance Showcase performances in New Hampshire Hall, use Lot H (on the corner of Edgewood Road and Main Street, near the Whittemore Center and directly behind New Hampshire Hall.)

PARKING (Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.):  Visitor parking during the University's peak hours of operation (Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.- 6:00 p.m.) is available in several areas. Visitor lots, GPS coordinates, costs and other details are described here on the Transportation Services visitor parking webpage.  There are also metered parking spaces along Academic Way, in front of the Paul Creative Arts Center, with limited availability during peak hours. Meters are $1.75/hour with a 2-hour maximum.

One of the closer parking lots to the Paul Creative Arts Center is Campus Crossings, located on Mill Road across from Durham Marketplace. After purchasing a parking permit from the parking lot attendant, you can proceed to the Paul Creative Arts Center via a short, paved walkway through a lovely, wooded ravine.

The University of New Hampshire's Sage Way Visitor Lot provides the most ample parking opportunities and a complimentary shuttle bus that will take you to the Paul Creative Arts Center area. To reach the Sage Way Visitor Lot, proceed on Route 155A and turn left at the left turn lane, shortly before the tennis courts. Follow the signs to the Lot. The free Gables Connector (shuttle bus) leaves from the Lot every eight minutes. The bus proceeds toward campus on Main Street, turns right at Holloway Commons, and then turns right again onto Academic Way. Disembark at the first stop on Academic Way (McConnell Bus Stop) and continue the short distance to the Paul Creative Arts Center, the first brick building on the right.

ACCESSIBILITY & PARKING: Several parking spaces designated for patrons with disabilities are available on Academic Way in front of the Johnson Theatre. There are additional spaces in front of Parsons Hall, also on Academic Way, and on Arts Way, next to Kingsbury Hall.
