Roe

This nationally acclaimed, Jane Chambers Award winning play by Lisa Loomer (Girl Interrupted) takes an ingenious approach to examining Roe V Wade. Sarah Weddington, the young lawyer who argued for the right to abortion and plaintiff Nomra McCovery (the real Jane Roe) both wrote memoirs about the case and about their respective journeys. Their accounts differ in many dramatic ways, and Loomer weaves their conflicting perspectives into a play that asks unflinching questions about the landmark 1973 ruling. With the Supreme Court’s recent decision to overturn the constitutional right for abortion access, this production will offer an important opportunity to more deeply comprehend and reflect upon Roe Vs Wade, then and now.
