Il Cinema Ritrovato on Tour in
New Hampshire is back this year with a virtual festival running March 5–8!
This year’s Cinema Ritrovato on Tour in New Hampshire presents an international lineup of comedies, beautifully restored cinematic masterpieces, and documentaries sourced from Italian archives. All films will be streaming on demand during the four day period.* The festival features seven films from four countries, including the U.S. premier of a documentary about Bologna during WWII and a special engagement of the very-rarely-screened masterpiece Chess of the Wind. Plus, see Fellini’s directorial debut, Variety Lights; a narrated compilation of early documentary shorts; Ritwik Ghatrak’s devastating melodrama, The Cloud-Capped Star; and Agnes Varda’s meditative Documenteur! All films are in their original languages with English subtitles.
Tickets are $7 per film, or get a Festival Pass to view all seven films for $35! Visit https://cinemaritrovatonh.weebly.com/ for more ticket information.
All films will be free to UNH students (with a UNH email address). In order to acquire tickets, students will need to visit https://cinemaritrovatonh.weebly.com/ and retrieve a discount code (which will be posted the week before the festival). Then they will follow directions to “purchase” tickets and use the code when prompted to insert the “Discount Code.” They will need a UNH email address to use the code.
*All films, with the exception of Chess of the Wind, will be
available to stream on demand at any time from 12:00am Friday, March 5 through
11:45pm Monday, March 8. Chess of the Wind will be available to stream
only on Saturday, March 6 and Sunday, March 7 and has a limited number of
tickets available. In most cases, once you begin viewing a film you will have
48 hours to complete it but at 11:45pm on Monday, March 8 all access to all
films will close, including any unwatched portions of films you may have
started.
