UNH Museum of Art (PCAC)
The UNH
Center for the Humanities invites you to join us for a First Monday talk:
Holding their Breath:
A Success Story?
Molly
Dorsey is an associate professor in the History Department as well as the
faculty coordinator and a core faculty member of Justice Studies. Her
forthcoming book with Cornell is scheduled to be released in March. Holding
their Breath: How the Allies Confronted the Threat of Chemical Warfare in World
War II examines the how and why Britain, Canada, and the United States resisted
and deflected a poison gas war repeatedly while being shaped by the threat of
it. World War II was filled with horrors, but poison gas on the
battlefield was not one of them. That outcome was not inevitable. How
close did the world come to chemical war, what led to restraint, and do the
lessons extend beyond a better understanding of World War II and the post-war
period?
The event will be held in the Deep Time Lab. Please enter through the Museum of Art in PCAC and go down the stairs.
Light refreshments will be served, and there will be a cash bar.
Please RSVP at humanities.center@unh.edu or 603-862-4356.
