Wednesday, November 20, 2024 - 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Memorial Union Building Strafford Room
The Civil Discourse Lab presents the Conversations at the Intersection of Research and Community Listening Exchange (CIRCLE). This inaugural event features CIRCLE Engaged Research Fellow and Associate Professor Mary Stampone (Geography, NH State Climatologist), who will give a short keynote address about increasing climate variability in NH and strategies for community adaptation and resilience. Professor Stampone's presentation will be immediately followed by an interactive deliberation engaging the audience in small group conversation on the topic: "What Should We Do About NH Lakes and Climate Resilience?"
Participants will collectively prioritize concerns and policies on how to keep
New Hampshire’s more than 1200 lakes healthy and climate resilient. This public
participation event links cutting-edge UNH research to issues and policies
important to NH citizens. Community conversations will be facilitated by
students in the new Civil Discourse Lab class at UNH. The event will kick off
with a free community dinner (included with Eventbrite registration if
completed by November 8).
This event is in partnership with New Hampshire Listens and the Carsey School
of Public Policy and is generously supported by the Responsible Governance and
Sustainable Citizenship Project; Andy Coville and Brodeur Partners; and the UNH
Department of Communication.
Dinner will be served at 4:45 p.m.
